Consolidating Offices, a Hybrid Work Environment & Rebranding

In 2020, an international healthcare organization was about to consolidate its multiple Greater Toronto offices into one new 120,000-square-foot headquarters in downtown Toronto. The Glendale Group was contracted to deliver a positive, contemporary environment for the company’s team members, one that would be especially inviting for those returning from working at home during the pandemic. During the project, an acquisition and rebranding resulted in additional requirements. Completed in 2022, the project was within budget, on schedule, and resoundingly approved by the client’s senior management.

Design and oversee the renovation of the new office workspace with 500 seats to accommodate the hybrid/flexible schedules of 1,250 team members

As a healthcare organization, create a contemporary work environment that supports the well-being and productivity of all team members.

A hybrid work environment i.e. inclusion of team members working remotely from home

Distinct functional requirements for secure call-centered IT, client-facing areas and office space, and attracting high-level talent.

The COVID-19 pandemic added constraints to the project; however, Glendale’s teams adapted and our ability to meet the deadline was not affected.
Supply-chain obstacles have become a common challenge across the construction industry and this project was no different. We closely managed this challenge and maintained the original budget and timelines.
The change in brand identity midway through the project required a significant pivot, which we managed efficiently and professionally.

Our multidisciplinary design team worked collaboratively and interdepartmentally with the client, ensuring the design would be comprehensive and meet the needs across the organization.

We worked closely with the client to reflect the brand in various design elements, i.e. finishes, technologies, and wayfinding signage. Then when the brand itself changed, we provided recommendations to seamlessly incorporate the new brand.

By overseeing the general contractor, we were able to ensure that the client’s vision for a modern work environment was achieved.

The Glendale Group successfully consolidated the healthcare provider’s offices and adapted the space to a hybrid work environment. The new headquarters was in line with the client’s new branding efforts and met the needs of various corporate departments. The project was completed on time and within budget. Upon client handover, our maintenance team continued to support our client as they began utilizing the space.
